At Colorectal SA, we offer an open access (facilitated) service for patients requiring a Colonoscopy or Gastroscopy.
The request form can be completed below, or downloaded here:
Once a referral has been received, our staff will contact the patient directly to identify whether they are suitable for this expedited process and answer any questions they may have. All referrals will be reviewed by a practice doctor, and patients contacted by phone to complete the assessment. If suitable, the patient can then be booked straight to endoscopy. Any patients considered not suitable (typically for medical reasons), or who require an opinion as to whether endoscopy is indicated, will be offered an appointment to see the doctor.
Patients will be sent an information sheet and instructions regarding bowel preparation via mail or email. The bowel preparation can be purchased from a chemist without a script or from our rooms. Results of the endoscopy will be sent to the referring doctor and discussed with the patient on the day of the procedure, with a copy given to them as well. A follow-up clinic appointment will be arranged if required, and the patient will generally be notified of any pertinent pathology results by telephone or letter soon after these are available.
